Mush Your Own Team of Iditarod Huskies – Guide assisted
Experience the thrill of driving your own dog team on this immersive full-day Yukon adventure with Elevation Sled Dogs—home to elite Iditarod and Yukon Quest huskies and their experienced long-distance mushers.
We’ll pick you up from your Whitehorse accommodation at 10:30 AM and head to the trailhead just outside the city. After meeting your energetic team of Alaskan huskies, you’ll receive hands-on instruction from professional mushers on how to harness, handle, and mush your own sled. Then it’s time to hit the trail!
Travel deep into the snowy Yukon backcountry, winding through forested trails and open wilderness with plenty of time to bond with your dogs and soak in the stunning scenery. Midway through the day, we’ll stop for a trailside campfire lunch, featuring smokies and hot chocolate or coffee, served in true northern style.
You’ll finish your ride with newfound skills, a deeper appreciation for sled dogs, and memories that last a lifetime.

At the conclusion of your tour you can warm up in our cozy wall tent by the wood stove and enjoy a cup of hot coco and tell stories of the trail with your fellow travelers.

Venture deep into the breathtaking Tombstone Territorial Park, where jagged peaks and sweeping valleys create the perfect setting for an unforgettable mushing expedition. In late March and early April 2026, this remote wilderness transforms into a dreamland of pristine snow, long daylight hours, and awe-inspiring scenery.
This isn’t just a tour—it’s a true wilderness experience. You’ll live the musher’s life, caring for your own team of elite sled dogs, setting up camp in heated tents, and navigating the rugged Yukon backcountry under the guidance of our expert team.

Day 1: Arrival in Dawson City
Your adventure begins as we pick you up from the airport and travel 1.5 hours to our remote base camp. Meet your guides, settle in, and get acquainted with your team of huskies—the heart and soul of this expedition.
Day 2: Learn to Mush
Today, you’ll dive into the fundamentals of dog sledding! Learn how to care for your dogs, manage your sled, and prepare for the journey ahead. With hands-on training, you’ll gain the confidence needed for the upcoming expedition.
Day 3: Into the Wilderness
The real adventure begins! We set out on an epic 6-hour mush deep into the Tombstone backcountry. As you glide across untouched snow, the silence of the wilderness is broken only by the rhythm of your dogs and the crunch of your sled runners. At our remote campsite, you’ll help care for the dogs, set up camp, and soak in the surreal beauty of the wild.
Day 4: The Journey Home
After breaking camp and feeding your eager team, we hit the trail once more, making our way back toward base camp. As the final stretch of your adventure unfolds, you’ll reflect on the incredible bond you’ve built with your team and the wild Yukon itself. That evening, we celebrate with a hearty farewell dinner and toast to your achievement!
Day 5: Departure
With memories (and maybe a few happy tears), we’ll transport you back to Dawson City for your departure. But the spirit of the trail—and the call of the wild—will stay with you forever.
