The nearby village of Carcross is named from the term Caribou Crossing. This area where you will be mushing is also referred to the as the Southern Lakes region. Beautiful lakes surrounded by mountains, the head waters to the mighty Yukon River. It is in this area that gold seekers from over 100 years ago were launching north towards Dawson City, by dog teams in the winter, by boats in the summer. Eventually there was a railway established from the port of Skagway to the interior village of Whitehorse. This railway allowed Whitehorse to become the hub of the Yukon. The railway now abandoned, makes a great modern day dog mushing trail for us to enjoy. The history of the Yukon is amazing and we cannot wait to get into the Yukon Wild with you!
One of the greatest joys in life is gathering around a warm fire in the woods with new friends, that is why we make a point of taking a layover out on the trail so you can take it all in. Cuddle with your favorite husky, ask questions, tell a story while sipping on a warm beverage. This is Yukon hospitality!
We still have fun when there is not enough snow for sleds, join us for and exciting dog mushing half-day tour on our all terrain vehicle. We can pick you up from Whitehorse and you will enjoy a scenic drive down to the beautiful Sothern Lakes region. Your tour will skirt the shoreline of Bennet Lake, where you will take in the breathtaking views of the coastal mountains!
